Farmall 560 fuel tank

Is the fuel tank the same on a Farmall 560 gas and diesel?

Probably the same shape and size. But the diesel tank will have a port on top for the fuel return.And the threads for the petcock may be different(but not sure,just a guess).I have an MDiesel tank on a gas M.It is as described.

The 560-656-706 diesels have their fuel return port at the tank bottom, not the top. There's a one way brass check valve that's SUPPOSED to hold fuel in when the line is off.

Diesel has two ports on the bottom. I put my diesel tank on the gas when parted the diesel out.

It is possible that production gasoline tractors only had one port in the bottom BUT, all replacement tanks from parts had two holes so they fit either gasoline or diesel. I would have to look at an old gasoline 560 to know but none handy around here right now.
