Speaking of H pistons.....

Can you run kerosene on Firecraters or is my option flat top only? I have a set of Firecraters already & have a kerosene H that apparently needs one
of the two as there isn't a whole lot of compression. Can't quite spin the hand crank with a finger, but I don't feel the cylinders loading up either.

Thanks,
Mike

No. Kerosene (a very expensive fuel) needs about 6:1 compression to avoid destructive knock. A flat top piston in a kerosene head will make that target. If it is a show tractor and you intend to demonstrate the engine on Kerosene, flat top is about the only solution. Jim

compression ratio on a high compression gas head with flat pistons is only 5.9 to 1. with a distillate head is 4.7 to 1 and a kerosene head is less yet. Kerosine needs around 4 to 1 to work which gives you very low power and diluted engine oil.

If you are spinning it with the starter, open throttle, and charged battery, for at least 5 compression strokes, it should be about 75 to 85 psi. Jim
