clutch not releasing

Hi again fellas, I posted a couple weeks ago about My M not having the power it should have, after your replies I found that the distributor advance was not working, disassembled and found worn advance weights, replaced with new distributor and she runs fine now. Yesterday, I went to move it, and clutch will not release, removed delete plate, and see one of the fingers on clutch pressure plate is worn and riding over the throw out bearing. Question is, can I replace this without splitting the tractor? I have heard that it can be done, just wondering what I am up against. Appreciate any advise.

Thanks

An M clutch can be removed and replaced without split. Pull the Liftall pump (be careful) and remove the coupling to the transmission (photo it first it can be assembled
incorrectly) and things will come out. You cannot pull the flywheel without a split, but no real need unless it is way worn. Jim

myself i hate working on my back, and i will split a simple tractor like that just for the ezz of standing there while working and can have good visuals on stuff. tractor splits in less than an hr. and can save a lot of talking chinese in the end.

I think the F series and letter series clutches can all be worked on without a split. I know we pulled the clutch from my F20 without splitting. M's, H's I believe the same. That belly pump comes out easy, remove coupler and then just the four bolts that hold it up. But be careful, that is heavy as heck. We used a jack and cribbing to hold it when unbolting so we could control its removal.
