656 normal oil pressure?

What's the usual oil pressure on a 656 gas? Got one that runs a steady 35 psi at high idle, hot or cold. Runs 35 psi at cold low idle, but drops to 5 psi at hot low idle. I'm running it with both a gauge and the idiot light still connected. The light never comes on. Just had an out of frame engine rebuild, checked the oil pump gear to bottom plate clearance and installed gasket with correct thickness for spec clearance.

How was oil pressure before repairs. If it has the potmetal filter
base, they have fiber wafer disc that controls regulated pressure
and often fail.

Thanks Pete. Now I remember reading about the fiber discs failing before. It does have the pot metal filter base, and the oil pressure was the same before the rebuild.
I checked the Case IH site, and new valve discs are $31 each! Is my only option to buy them there, or is there another source?

I don't of any other source, but I would take them out and check them first. May even have new style already and have other problems. The pot metal seat get eroded away also so even the new metal discs won't seal. Springs break or work their way through the snap rings so you would need to check a few things first. New pressure spring is heavier also.

An update: took the filter base off & found that the fiber disk pressure relief valve had eroded and was not sealing. Got a new improved steel valve & spring from CNH and now it runs at 45 psi low idle, 50 psi high idle. Problem solved!

Thank you, Pete 23!

Do you have the numbers of the parts you replaced? I suspect mine may have this problem also. Thanks in advance.
