I have the 430 apart to order seals for the hydraulic piston. I was also told to order a shaft seal but what shaft and where?

Thanks much,

Trav

take the seat off, then take off the giant reared cover with the rockshaft on it. flip it upside down and you will be looking at the hyd cyl for the draft arms. if it is leaking you will be losing hyd fluid and gaining transmission/rearend fluid level. it is normal for it to drift down when the tractor is not in use as long as it is not filling up the transmission/rearend.

The guys were suggesting that you may also want to replace the seals on the PTO shaft that runs from clutch housing to back of tractor, while you have the rockshaft housing off.---------------Loren

The pic is an older tractor, just for orientation, 430 seal is in the same location. Late 430 seal assembly is not the same as earlier 430 so note your serial nr. Link parts pic is after s/n 8262800 which should cover 1967.

Thanks much for all of your replies! They will make this job much easier. Do any of you have any tips for disassembling and replacing the seals for the piston or replacement of the shaft oil seal?

Thanks much again.
