I have a 1942 SC. It has and I have noticed on other SC CASE, there is an angle iron under the battery and it sticks out on each side.
What is this for?

No not that one. Mine has a curved angle iron for lights.
Down lower, below battery slide out. Measures about 1.5 by 1.5in. Heavymetal.

If I remember rite, What you are describing , The cultivator depth control levers mount on that angel iron.
Dads 43 was set up that way and had the power lift two row culti. Had to remove the iron when mounting the manure loader. oleclint

The angle iron is for mounting cultivators. I have one on my 1941 SC as well. You can see it in this photo if you look closely, plus the shadow is being cast from the angle iron on the side of the transmission housing.

Thanks. That makes sense. We use to have cultivators for this old sc. this was my dad?s, I grew out with it, and restored, repainted it about 10 years ago.
It only had power lift. I remember that we didn?t like it much cause they were either up or down. Had to adjust with the levers. Had VAC case with cultivators, it was hydraulic...worked much better. Thx for input.

Oh, good lookin SC.

Yessir, the early SC was pretty basic. Thank you for the story on yours, and also for the nice comment on mine. This one was rebuilt and painted about 11 years ago. Still have to go through the rear section on it, though. Plenty of videos on my channel if you're interested!
