Time consuming little things on the 1070

I have the major mechanical items finished, the radiator, engine overhaul, P Shift rebuilt, brakes, PTO, electrical and cab accessories. Now onto the many little things. Complete cab interior, seat, upholstery, radio, door and window hardware, the list just goes on and on. I restored the shift console cover, freshened up the dash, R+R the steering boot and replaced the cab to hood molding. Just replacing that molding is very time consuming, the hood and panels need to be removed, cowling loosened up so the molding can be installed and then everything has to be readjusted again for proper hood and panel fit. NICE! I sometimes catch myself up in being too detailed for what a project is really worth, but can't stand doing a half-a$$ed job, either!

I agree, I will not go and do half a$$ on this now, got to many $ in it. Been wondering if I did the right thing fixing it. Time will tell, Rod.

No Darrel they did not. I forgot mention I already rebuilt the front end and 3 pt hitch. This tractor would have been easier to repair if the PO had never TRIED to fix anything on it. Have spent days redoing items. I also need to give you a call one of these days, Rod.

Rod, yes, those little tasks slow things down, but you wouldn't do it any other way! It has to be right!

Just like building a building. The structure goes up in a short time. Then there are all the trim and details, from doors and windows, to heat and electric. And last but not least, the funnel with a hose on it extending out the wall. HeHe.

This is going to be nicer than new when you get done with it. Out of curiosity where do you source your panel/console decal sets?

(quoted from post at 16:17:53 03/19/18) Got them from CNH a couple years ago, Rod.

Ok I was curious if anyone has tried the maple hunter sets for the 70 series. The open station 1175 I just got had faded out and the previous owner made their own "custom" decals/markings. I like your job there in the pictures so much, considering buying a sticker set and pulling the panel off to clean up/paint and fix right.

Good work, as always Rod. We were going to repaint our chopper last fall and called about decals for a NH 790. Ouch!!! $290.00 Don

Maple Hunter makes high quality decals have used them on 870 and others. If you dont need the whole set they will sell you what you need. JIM
