when did they stop using 2 tanks on the case d. I just bought one but haven't got it home yet but it has the 2 tanks.

A 2 compartment tank was still listed in the Nov 55 parts book #A519. It was always an option with the D for low cost fuel. Small gas tank for starting on then when warm switching to kerosene, distelite, or what ever you wanted to call it. The late parts book shows it as one tank, with smaller gas tank built in. I'm not so sure if the early ones didn't have 2 separate tanks as the SCs did

The single compartment tank was first used in early 1940, but the dual compartment was indeed used with low-cost fuel models throughout production. The auxiliary tank was always within the main tank, as it was on the C series.
