Case 730 Carb Issue

I have just bought my first Case and bought it as, "Has to warm up." (EBAY) Well I haven't gotten it to warm up yet cause it won't stay running long enough. It cranks up then goes dead repeatedly. If you leave the gas on, all of the gas leaks out of the air intake side of the carb. It looks like its been rebuilt so I took it off and took it apart to check the float and needle valve. I removed float and checked for leaks and made sure it was level, so I bent it down a little to close the needle valve sooner to see if that would help and put it all back together and it didn't make any difference. I don't know if they all do but this one has an up draft carb. Does anyone have any idea what this might be? Thanks,,, Mark

Is the needle seat good and tight and has the correct gasket under it?? Does it have a rubber tipped needle if it does you need to make sure it has a set in the end of it. A set can be seen as a ring in the rubber tip. If you cannot see a set drop it in the seat and tap on it a few times the pull it out and you should see a ring in the tip and that is a set which will help it seat and close off the gas. Also check that you do not have rust/dirt in the gas and the seat area because that can also make a needle valve leak

little bit of rust crud from evaporated alconol in fuel in the needle valve juust takes a minute nuthin to cause that ,,.,,. why is it stalling,,? are you getting plenty gas to the carb ,? if this is a m/s carb that long fuel valve may not be seated in the correct spot,, it may take threads and still not be exactly where it is supposdd to be ,, and the damthang will still run ,,. but not vey well

The needle seat is rubber tipped but I don't remember seeing a ring on the tip and I looked at it good to make sure it didn't have a gouge or scratch on it. I"ll try that and let you know how it turns out. I'll try the long adjustment screw also. See if that makes it run smother. I'll try to post some pics if I can get my kids to show me how. Thanks for your help!

Working on those carbs I've found that sometimes the float gets bent or twisted and hangs up on the side of the bowl. It can't lift high
enough to let the needle close on the seat causing the gas leak.

Check floats for holes. Had a set of brass that corroded holes in them . Also the whiskey in the gas now a days will eat the rubber tips off the
metering valves.
