D14 gap between bell housing and oil pan

please see pic below. Reattached the engine to the bell housing and re-installed the front axle. Making progress smells good.
but wait - while attaching the rear axle support, i see a gap between the oil pan and rear support large enough for me to reach a finger in
and touch the flywheel. NO WAY A/C left this open. Searched the parts bin and old parts looking for a missing shield. none to be found. scoured the parts book and don't see anything there either. Am i missing a cover ???

You may be missing a cover, but your tractor isn't. That's the way they were built.

Curious whether that was the same for narrow or single front?
