D17 Series 1 starting "cough"


Couldn't get the video attached.
Basically it cranks over a few times and then it's like it hits a dead spot.
 
As in cranks over then stops?? If that is happening pull the starter off and take a look at the ring gear it maybe missing some teeth
 
Yes but I'd pull the starter off and have a look see before thinking about more work. Could also be the starter drive gear but not as likely as the ring gear

i dont know if this is still happening or helps, but my d 17 starter center bushing in the starter wore out and cocked the armature shaft
where the starter gear is, ultimately resulting in me snapping the shaft in half.
