1958 D14 oil pressure issue

Hello new to the group, hopefully someone can point me in the right direction, i'm not getting any oil pressure, i replaced gauge and line, still nothing, could this be an oil pump issue or relief spring and ball issue, tractor seems to run fine, but don't want to take any chances.
 
I think these had the same engine as the B, C, CA. The oil pump is on the back of the camshaft under the bellhousing. It can loose it's prime. Most of the time you can
prime them by taking off the oil line coming out of it and squirting oil in. Maybe someone else will confirm or correct me on this but you have a start with this info
anyway.
 
If you have the wrong oil filter it will not build pressure have you changed the filter as of late
 
Almost the same pump as the B, C and CA except it is a higher volume. The relief spring and ball is in the front end of the camshaft to make it a pressurized system to force the oil thru mains into the rod bearings. More than likely it has lost its prime. I prime these pumps by removing the oil filter, place a gas line hose over the stand pipe, fill it with oil, start the engine and catch oil from the hose in a can. When you get oil, stop the engine, replace the filter, restart the engine and check the oil gage for pressure. That is the no mess quick way to prime these pumps. This pump is driven by a pin in the back of the camshaft the same as the smaller engines of the CA.
 
Is the stand pipe still in the filter housing? Do you remember sliding the new filter down over it? If the stand pipe is missing it lets too much oil flow and it won't show pressure. It is not uncommon for them to get loose and pull out, staying in the old filter and getting discarded. Just something to check.
 
You know Jim I don't know, that very well could be what happened, Ill have to check it tonight after work.
 
Thanks for the information, I changed oil and filter not long ago, been told the stand pipe tends to come out with old filter, and i can't remember if it was still there or not, if it is there I will deffinetly try to prime it the way you said.
 

The another thing might be the Wix filter. I doubt this is the case as it has been many years since this issue arose and the problem filters should be long gone. The Wix filter used on these for years was the 51101. It was packed media like the AC filters. Wix decided to improve them and changed to a folded paper media. Those filters built no oil pressure. The 51101 filters were discontinued soon after the change and replaced by the current 57011, which is packed media as the original 51101 filters were. The packed media is fine. If you some how got one of the 51101 filters you should discard it.

Wix is currently using the 51101 number for a sock type filter element, no relation to the old 51101 spin on for the ACs.
 
A wix filter is just fine IF and ONLY if you got the correct one. I do not remember off the top of my head which is the correct one but if right you will have oil pressure if wrong you will not have oil pressure simple as that
 
If you need I can go out and look at one of my A/C tractor and get the correct Wix number for you

As I posted, the correct Wix filter number is 57011 (NAPA 1011).
