Allis B front weight bracket

Anybody have any ideas on how to put a weight bracket on a 1939 AC B and still be able to start it with the hand crank ? My club allows 11 ft forward from center of rear axle but I'm thinking about maybe hinging it out of the way so I can start it. Close up Pictures of where and how to attach it would be great. Wide front model if that helps.

Experience has been to add weights to front of Rear axle or on the wheels themselves. Most B's won't have enough power to worry about keeping front end on ground.

Shorten the draw bar to the club rules and hang hot roll bar stock on the front axle arch. It is all about balance anyway. I pulled my B's without front weights for years. Lots of wins! You have to think outside of the box to beat the club rule makers.

The drawbar on the B with the blue chicken bars has been shortened and unless you check it against another B drawbar you would never know it. It just takes some creative cutting and welding. A shorter drawbar pulls down more on the rear tires and less lift to the front. I pulled on a couple tracks where the drawbar needed to be original and no one knew the difference and I didn't volunteer any thing when I was pulling. Most rules just stated that the drawbar could not be closer than 18 inches from the center of the rear axles. In the one picture you can see my tractors parked on the pulling track I built to test all changes I made to any of my tractors. I pulled my B's and C's with much lower drawbars than the other pullers. Like I stated it is all about balance and traction.

Sounds like your pulling farm stock. Our club lets us use our own clevis as long as it is 3 inch hole for hook. In farm stock and local classes we use stock draw bar set at what height they allow. The only way we can have weights on front is if it was available when tractor was built.

I made a bracket that bolts to the torque tube threaded holes and one 5/8 bolt on the front axle mounting plate....... you can then hang suitcase weights or other on the bracket.

Before you put on any weight you need to weigh the tractor. If you are under weight you need to add enough weight to get you up to the upper limit. Some of this might need to go near the front. You can't tell for sure until you actually try and pull it. If you don't need weight on the front put it on the back or someone who did will beat you.
