So I've been researching the oil from the power
director to the tranny via weak seals . Found
something about a leveling tube internally . My
question is couldn't you tie the drain plugs
together with pipe ? Anyone tried or heard of this ,
since every post I found related to this said the
seals are poorly designed.

Old Case mechanic I used to know would actually drill a hole in the side of the 2 compartments on his Case tractors, thread them for elbows, and run a rubber hose between the 2 compartments so the oil would stay the proper level in them. I know this isn't a 185, but might work if you could keep the shavings out of the compartments.

its not the seals but most time people put them in to deep blocking the drain hole pressure relief hole in the seal holder that is also where the power director two speed get it oil. what i have found is to drill the whole a couple sizes bigger seem to solve problem. most time when they go bad you also nee to repair the two speed power director,, but if you wanted you could just remove the two seal on pto shaft that let the oil blend i alway though if it were my tractor i just drill a hole in the rear section so fluid could blend main reason the is separate section is when thy first came out the rear section used gear oil front section hyd fluid
