I saw on TV John Phillips is giving away his father's wd 45 to someone who will pick up and restore it in a year.

It might be a project for a tractor club or an FFA project.

Email link doesn't work, and it still seems pretty silly to solicit essays and entries when you don't know where it is. I'd venture that few folks would venture more than a couple hundred miles for a free old tractor needing restoration.

Sorry Mike, I'm just the messenger. Saw it on TV this morning. John Phillips is just trying to get his dad's tractor done for free and make someone happy. There is a place to leave a comment or try to contact US Farm report.

It sounds to me like this is a photo op for the US Farm Report. He wants to have pics of the progress. Said he would even send a film crew. It also sounds like a way for him to keep his promise to his dad and get the 45 restored. If it were my tractor I would like to see an FFA chapter or a AC musimum.

I agree, it's like a photo op or publicity stunt that will result in more value than the donated tractor. I think his motive was good though, he said he'd never get it done himself and it's just in the way. (I'm sure he could afford to hire someone to restore it, but it wouldn't be cost efficient)

Looks like a 6 cylinder Buda Allis like a Cockshutt 40 or so in it. Some were made like that I understand, but very few I believe. Would make a great tractor as Cockshutt 40's are great, but I am a little biased with 8 Cockshutt's!!

I wonder if he means that it should be restored back to a diesel, because that's probably what it was originally. Diesel engine likely went bad, and somebody replaced it with a 230 gas from either a combine or a Cockshutt.
