D17 Series IV PTO

The handle broke off, where it attaches to the stub shaft ? I am not recomending that u do weld it on the tractor, but if u do,i would use a 6010 or a 6011 rod, and whatever u do, don't weld it in a full circle !!! Just two tack's opposite of each other should do it.

Thanks for reply. Yes the handle is broken off. Thought about welding on tractor but hoped a cover on bottom or side would let me get to roll pin attaching lever/shaft to yoke. Might drill and tap shaft for a bolt and drill another hole to index/hold with a dowel/roll pin? Also might quit whining and split tractor.lol

Harry is right.
Don't try welding complete...weld in increments and give it time to cool down.
A water-soaked rag would help too.
Some PO ran into the same problem on the D17sIV I had, and the welding cooked the o'ring....so it was leaking; not all that bad, but enough to warrant a fix, and I ended up splitting it.
Some on here (and the other site) have said that the PTO shaft can be removed without splitting.
IDK,...it might be worth a try. Getting it back in and the roll-pin in place may prove to be problematic, tho'
