Collector Profile for Todd Kitchen | I have been around John Deere trcors all my life. We currently own a 1947 B, 1952 A, and a 1963 4010, as well as some newer models. At one time we also had a 1952 G, and a 1941 B on the farm. Dad traded the G and the 41 B off on larger tractors at some point over the years. Had we known these tractors would become so popular ( or that we would just plain miss them so much) we would have kept them all. When I was growing up I often wished dad would hurry up and start using more modern equipment. Little did I know then I would someday view these experience's as the greatest thing he left me. Up until I got out of high school in 1981 we still used the A and a 237 mounted picker to harvest about 6000 bushels of ear corn for cattle feed. Actually, that tractor, wich my grandfather bought new in Spencer IN. for 2150, wore out 2 model 227 pickers before we got the 237. Never will I forget the sound of BANG! BANG! BANG!, as the old A charged down 2 rows of corn on some crisp november morning pulling the frosty stalks through amid the hazy fog of the white river as I stood next to the engine of the G (wich was hitched to an empty wagon) just to keep warm. I don't think a lot of people my age (36) can comprhend that. The A still sits at the front off our shop today ready and able to go to work at a moments notice. I would love to share stories and intrest's about AGELESS IRON with anyone out there. It Can't Be Done! - A Tractor Story - by Neil Campbell. I'll never forget the time back when I was a boy baling hay on our Farm in Big Rapid, Michigan. The most memorable event that took place was a trip up the steepest incline on the farm pulling an old New-Idea baler with a pony-motor for power and a haywagon. I had just talked my Dad into buying an old John Deere B with 6-speeds ahead and I was real proud of it, except it was a little smaller than the Case tractor that we normally
