Collector Profile for Graham Baker

Hi, I am a 'city slicker' (Limey style!) who has gone country down here in TEXAS south of FORT WORTH (not that other place beginning with a D......). I inheritted an OLIVER 60 when I bought my piece of Texas in OCT.96. It is an interesting tractor in that its serial number is outisde of the normal recognized range, namely 624467. It is a 'bog-stock' (as we Brits say!) ROW CROP with no attach-ments (exept for the mandatory PTO.). Needless to say it is mising the engine side panels (anybody have any available?)As usual the electrics are a birds-nest! If anybody has any ideas about this I'd sure like to hear from you!

In late AUG97, my wife, Sandy, was listening to the local radio station, KCLE of CLEBURNE, when she heard of another OLIVER 60 for sale. To cut a long story short, I bought it (what else could I do for an orphan OLIVER 60?) This OLIVER is even older with the serial number 603907, which makes it vintage 1941! Basically, it runs. What is even more interesting is the seed planter and furrow assembly that is built onto it! (Ever wondered what those holes are for in the chassis? I now know!) The younger one is the rolling, working restoration project but I have to admit that the older one has more 'charm'!

Besides these jewels, I have a 1959 LAND ROVER Srs,II. that also earns its keep. I havea used it for disking, etc. whenever OLIVER was 'indisposed'! (You should see the looks from my neighbours!) Enough of our (my) mechanical 'pets'. Sandy has several living, breathing pets such as 3 horses, 3 goats, 3 geese and 3 cats! We share responsibity for 3 dogs, all strays with great character!

Well, that's brief overview of BAKERS ACHERS (a play on words for BAKERS ACRES - I'll let you figure out the ACHERS part!) If you're ever down south of FORT WORTH, let us know and we'll be happy to meet you.

By the way, if you are an OLIVER 60 fan, lets get together: drop by my 'home page' OLIVER-60 c/o Katie Smalley's ANTIQUE TRACTOR home page. Com'n by y'all The 'Limey city-slicker who became a 'red-neck ex-pat'.

Thanks Graham
