Collector Profile for Bill Lampe | My name is Bill Lampe and I live in a little farm community in Michigan called Morenci. My great-grandfather settled the homestead that my wife Mary and I live on. The land goes back to 1861. I am retired from the banking business. After retirement, we built a new home here and with plenty of time on my hands, discovered old tractors and the pleasure they seemed to bring to their owners. While out for a drive last May, we came upon a restored JD 70. Told my wife that I had to have it, and to make a long story short, that beauty sits in the garage looking as if it just came off the line. Yeah, it takes a dollar or so to keep it looking great, but its a lot cheaper than any other vice, and it keeps me very happy. The grandkids have a smile you can't believe after I give em a ride. Sitting high up on that tractor, watching the world go by at three or four miles an hour can't be beat. I'll tell ya, working on that old tractor is like a little slice of heaven.
